An Illustrator in Somerset

As an illustrator in Somerset, I have been working for clients across the world creating various styles of illustration.

With an illustration project, this could be creating illustrations for children books for publishing. Or illustrations for websites and printed material.

The variety of illustration work is what makes the creative process so much fun. After the initial creative briefing, I can set to work creating concepts for the art style and carrying out research into illustration styles.

I am fortunate that I am able to adapt to most art styles, so once an art style is agreed – the illustration process can begin.

I work digitally, so all my Illustrations are created using Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.

I tend to sketch ideas out in Procreate or Adobe photoshop as this tends to be the quickest way to get ideas out of my head. There are some great tools within these apps to get realistic looking pencil lines, so this is great for getting the initial sketch ideas down.

Once the concepts are agreed I will then either fine-tune this within Adobe Photoshop or I will copy this over to Adobe Illustrator to create more finished artwork.

Adobe Illustrator I find is slower to use, as this is a Vector based software, the artwork looks more ‘digital’ as the lines tend to be very exact.

The benefit of using Adobe Illustrator of course is because of its Vector nature, it means artwork can be scaled to any size without loss of quality – so this works well for exhibition displays and large output print.

So if you are looking for an illustrator in Somerset or Illustrator Bristol, illustrator Exeter, Illustrator Dorset, or anywhere in the world for that matter, give me a call.
